A School Performance is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you are going to get!
Personally, the only chocolates I like in a box are the ones with caramel. I take a bite of each chocolate (example, eat off a tiny corner) until I find the ones with caramel inside. I put all the ones with tiny bites back into the box. Yes, I am an only child. Jared and my parents just roll with it. By now, they are used to eating a box of chocolates that looks like a mouse has been into it.
At the performance, each child, like a box of chocolates, has their own personality. Some of the children stand perfectly and sing like an angel. While other children: sing loud as thunder, don't sing a word, dance with the music, wave at their mother, sulk at having to perform, talk to their neighbor, etc...
Morris had already tried out many of these personalities. Since this wasn't his first performance during the Christmas season I wasn't exactly sure what we would get.
I arrived at the performance early so that we could be on the front row to watch. I wanted to have great pictures of him. This was his very first school performance. - Morris walked into the sanctuary. Gave Kaki (always his love Kaki) a quick wave and sang like an angel. He knew the words, he kept his hands by his side, he watched Mrs. Holly... I was the beaming proud parent. I couldn't help myself. I want to scream at the top of my lungs... LOOK AT MORRIS!! LOOK AT MORRIS!! The child that can sometimes cause mischief, the child who gets blamed because he is loud and full of personality, LOOK AT MORRIS... THE PERFECT CHILD!!!
I know that it is said, you see no faults in your own children. Well, I see Morris' flaws. I am aware of them. But, maybe, just maybe, he wasn't the child causing mischief on this special day... My child was the one on stage singing like an angel.
I was so proud of Morris. He still sings the songs from the program.
He was so happy that day and so was I!
