December 28, 2010 was a huge milestone at the Gladden house. Morris has loved his pacifier since the day he was born. He had seven pacifiers that he carried around the house with for a "just in case" moment. Over the past month, I had hidden some of his favorite Nuk pacifiers and he was down to just two paci's. After a virus on the 27th, I told Morris we had to throw away one of the two remaining paci's. He was sick all over it. On the night of the 27th, we were at Kaki and Bud's house. For some reason, Morris got mad and insisted that we go home. In a small tantrum, he threw his beloved last pacifier on the ground and stomped to the door. Kaki told Morris if you throw paci, you need to put it in the trash can. We had no idea, that Morris would walk to the trash and willingly throw in his last pacifier. Throwing caution to the wind, we headed home paci free. Well, to be honest, Jared got it out the trash and put it in his pocket. We didn't know if we were truly ready to sleep without a pacifier. As of Thursday, December 30th, Morris is pacifier free. We have made it through two naps and three nights. The naps are more of a struggle then the nights, but we are surviving. Wish us luck on this continued pacifier free journey.
