3 Year Old Doctor Visit

Last Wednesday Jared and I loaded up Morris for his three year old doctor visit. Morris was excited to see Nurse Joan and Doctor Rick. He asked many times if he was getting a shot. We weren't sure so we said we would have to wait and see. Nurse Joan quickly eased Morris' fears by telling him no shots. Morris was then happy to love on her giving hugs and telling her all about his morning.

Our first stop was the weigh-in and height check. Morris is 36 inches tall (16%) and 31 pounds and 4 ounces (45%). We are so proud of Morris for his growth in the last year.

Our only hiccup in the appointment was having our finger pricked. Morris did not like what he called the "red shot". He was upset saying there were no shots. The funny thing is Dr. Rick told us he has excellent nutrition based off his blood count. Ha, ha, ha... CANDY must be considered one of the food groups and contain more nutritional value than I thought!

Morris hit all the milestones that Doctor Rick ask us about:

- He has been sleeping in a big boy bed all by himself since he was two. He told us that was great. Sleeping alone encourages independence.

- Morris uses the potty all by himself. He has been using the potty since around April 2011.

- Morris drinks from a big boy cup. Not all the time, and that is my fault. Sometimes a sippy cup is just easier. We only drink from a big boy cup at school and continue to practice with dinner each night.

- Morris is still working on feeding himself 100% of the time. Again, I think this is my fault. If we are an independent feeder, sometimes our clothes get dirty. Morris now feeds himself lunch and dinner everyday. Progress is being made.

- Morris can sing his ABC's and is working on recognizing the letters.

- Morris can count to 10 and can recognize almost all the numbers.

- Morris is very verbal. He communicates clearly with adults and children.

- We are still monitoring the ptosis in his eye. Dr. Rick thought it looked great. We will not have an official visit with Dr. Metz again until right before kindergarten. We are continuing to let his eye muscle strengthen. His vision is not impaired by his ptosis.

Morris T is our great three year old boy. He keeps us on our toes and amazed daily. We love you Morris T!
