Thomas' First Birthday was on April 8th. April 8th happened to also be Easter this year. It was a great day for us. I am a little behind on my Birthday/Easter blogging. Time to play catch-up...
The anticipation around Thomas' birthday had been growing for months. I love to plan in advance and had been working on the details since February. All the essentials had been ordered: birthday hat, birthday bib, napkins, plates, cups, cookies, cake, invitations... the list could go on and on...
The decision has been made when Thomas was around 6 months old that the party theme would be "jack in the box". A great friend of mine owns a clothing line: Posh Originals, that is based out of Gadsden. She often allows me to come look through her new designs. I quickly noticed that she had the cutest "jack in the box" outfits. The theme was set and everything was based off the Posh outfits and an FAO Jack in the Box Jared had bought Morris two years ago.
All the prior proper preparation made for a great day. Our family started coming over around 5pm and the fun began. Morris loves all his family. He was wild trying to spend time with each cousin running around and showing off whatever skill he could think of. Thomas was busy holding everyone's hand and showing just how close he was to walking.
In true Morris/Gladden fashion, Thomas loved his cake!!! Now, he didn't love eating it with his hands. Thomas is a fork boy. He loves to use a fork and appear to be a big boy like Morris. Once we found Thomas his fork, he was in... We couldn't take that boy away from his cake.
I have always made my children's birthday parties, no gifts. Our boys are both blessed to have so much. It made for a night of celebrating and not having to worry about presents. He of course received presents from us, Kaki/Bud, and Grand/Pop. He loved getting each of them: a mint julep cup, a firetruck, a pirate water table, and money for his college fund.
We are blessed to have Thomas in our lives. He makes each day wonderful with his big brown eyes, bright smile, and laid back personality. Thomas we are so proud of your first birthday!!!
