Bathroom Renovation Part 1

Long ago a bathroom renovation started... Our house is a 1925 craftsman; the first house built in our neighborhood. The bathrooms were still ORIGINAL! They were very clean, but they were not modern. Almost two years ago we updated everything in our house, except the bathrooms. On October 24, 2009, we took a deep breath and started THE BATHROOM RENOVATION PROJECT.....

* This was our original 1920's toilet. Yes, it worked, not well, but it worked. The tile floor was also original. It was set into almost a foot of concrete.

It took almost an entire week just to complete the demolition to our bathroom. Due to every piece of tile being set in concrete, a jackhammer was used to get the tile off the wall and floor. Morris and I had some very interesting days.

Our house is also entirely plaster... huge mess. That is why you see the wood on the walls. The plaster attaches to the wood. Since our house is entirely plaster, each time they would run the jackhammer we had to pray that none of our other plaster walls cracked. - You all know what a worrier I am... I was worked up for months about every tiny detail. I would examine every wall attached to the bathroom praying there were no cracks.

After months of work... our masterpiece...

* The shower bench. The bench was our only hold-up. We were actually finished with the bathroom before Christmas. The bench could not be painted due to the cold weather.

We are so excited to be using our new and improved bathroom.
