I think in Morris's mind the beach seemed to be more fun when his daddy and Bud arrived. He was able to play in the ocean all day jumping waves, go crab and stingray hunting, not have to wait on us girls all day... We were all more excited when Jared and Bud got there. The beach seemed to be even more beautiful. - When they arrived at the beach, things did get easier. We were able to go down to the beach in shifts and Morris could stay and play longer when Thomas needed to go up to the condo. Mo

st of all, mother and I didn't have to carry all the gear by ourselves. It was just nice for mother and I to have regular companionship instead of two children. - One of the best activities when Jared and Bud arrived, was the crab hunting. Someone told us that the crabs were coming to shore to lay their eggs. The crabs would just walk up through the surf up onto the sand. It was completely fine to get into the water; the crabs didn't bother you. The fun part was catching the crabs. All the fathers and children were in the ocean catching and releasing crabs. It was great

. Jared told me one time in a manly way it made him feel good he could catch a crab. I guess in the hunting/fishing days Jared would have been able to provide, ha! There were also baby stingrays that were very easy to catch. It was a great experience. We had to be careful not to make too big a deal out of the wildlife. I didn't want to make Morris scared of the ocean. My worries were just that, worries... he was just like daddy.... proud to be a hunter. We still built sand castles and walked looking for shells, but the "hunting" was one of the highlights of our beach time each day. - Once everyone was at the beach, we worked so hard to get a good fa

mily picture. It seems like we snapped a hundred pictures trying to get everyone to look. We stopped trying to convince the kids to look and the adults just smiled and hoped for the best. It turned out Kaki and Bud got the best picture and they only took about two or three shots with the boys. The beach was just what we needed, rest and relaxation with a little hard work. Thomas mostly slept his days away on the beach, but loved the feel of the sand and ocean touching his toes while sitting in his bumbo. Morris loved everything about the beach. His personality was wid

e open from rolling in the sand to jumping waves. A great time was had by all in Gulf Shores.
