Over the weekend, we took Morris to the
Pumpkin Patch in Hayden, AL. We decided to go on a Friday morning hoping that the crowd would be smaller and the weather would be cooler... wrong and wrong again.... The Pumpkin Patch was filled with school groups and the temperature creeped up to around 90 degrees. It didn't matter to Morris that it was hot and crowded. He loved every minute! He smiled so big that we can't use most of our pictures. He closed his eyes with his big toothy grin! We knew there were four main activities we wanted to do with Morris... (a) take pictures, (b) see if he wanted to ride a pony, (c) play at the

petting farm, and (d) ride the wagon to the pumpkin patch... We started with picture taking... It went okay. We have a few cute shots of Morris, but nothing like we are normally able to get. He was so excited and could not focus on the camera. He has been obsessed with pumpkins at home. Carrying them around the house and saying "Halloween". I thought with all the pumpkins around he might be a "little" distracted. After we saw the pictures were not going great, we moved on to the pony ride. He was a little timid at first. He watched the older kids and then decided that he defiantly wanted to ride. This was truly one of the highlights of the day. He has a horse

he rides on at home and says neigh continually. He was so proud to be high up on his horse. Morris refused for Jared to hold him on the horse. Our pre-two-year-old is very head strong and independent. The pony ride was too short. Morris wanted to ride again and again. The petting farm was next, and it was hilarious. Morris knows most of his animals and sounds. He got to test his knowledge on a donkey, pig, goose, turkey, llama, and cow. He did great except I do not know what a llama sounds like so we just made it up. The funniest were the geese. For some reason, the geese did not like Morris. They chased him and squawked. Morris ran strait to Jared and crawled up his legs. We have laughed and laughed. It was a little scary...

Geese are not he kindest animals. I could just see them attaching Morris's eyes. We saved the wagon wide and pumpkin patch until the very end. Jared and I learned last year... after you pick out your pumpkin, you have to carry it around the rest of the time. This year, we were much wiser. Morris thought riding on the wagon was a blast. It seemed like with the sun beating down it took him hours to find just the right pumpkin. He of course wanted one that weighed about ten pounds... Jared and I wanted one that weighed about one pound. After much convincing, Morris found the perfect one pound pumpkin. We loaded back onto the wagon and enjoyed the cool breeze. We were back into the air conditioned car in no time. All three of us were hot, tired, and

definitely stinkier then when we arrived. Later that afternoon Morris took a three hour nap dreaming of all the fun he had at the Great Pumpkin Patch. He is still talking about it five days later...
